Like
many of us, my love for horses began at a young
age. I remember begging my parents to let me
ride after visiting
the local riding school with a friend. They
agreed and 26 years later I can’t imagine
a life without horses. Early
on, my talent for communicating with difficult
horses was apparent. I was paired with 'Dobbin' a
retired barrel racer whose naughty behavior had
landed him a spot in the sale barn. Lucky for
me, we quickly
learned one another’s language and formed
an incredible partnership for the years to come.
He
was sold to
me for $1- An incredible horse who, taught me
patience, persistence, trust and respect, and
the meaning
of harmony between horse and rider.
My
training philosophy is based on the principles
of classical
dressage. Regardless of breed or
discipline, a solid dressage
foundation is key. I use a systematic and sensitive
approach adjusted to each individual horse’s
temperament. I believe that patience and respect
are foremost and without
them harmony between horse and rider can never
be achieved. Each ride my goal is to make an
improvement by setting
them up for small successes, challenging the
horse but never asking for more than he can accomplish,
and always
finishing on a positive note.
